Locate a device

Use the Locate device feature to search for a device ID across all searched Azure Sphere catalogs to which you have access privileges. You must have at least Reader Azure role-based access control (RBAC) privilege to be able to locate a device. When a device is located, a direct link to the device is provided.

  • Device ID
  • Device group
  • Product
  • Azure Sphere catalog

Use the portal

  1. Sign in to the Azure Portal. To locate the Azure Sphere service, in the top search bar, enter and select Azure Sphere. The Azure Sphere page is displayed.
  2. On the Azure Sphere page, select Locate device.
  3. On the Locate device page, enter your device ID.
  4. If the device is found, and if you have Reader or greater Azure RBAC privileges for the device, the device information will be displayed.

Note

If a device is found but you do not have access privileges for it, you will receive a The requested device was not found error. This is in keeping with Azure Sphere device security and privacy policies, where we do not disclose device information, including whether a device exists or whether the device has been claimed, unless you have an account with Reader or greater access privileges for the device.
