Set up a digest notification of changes to Microsoft Defender for Office 365 using the message center

Receive a weekly Message center digest email

This article shows admins how to configure a weekly digest email from the Microsoft 365 message center for Microsoft Defender for Office 365 service announcements and feature changes. The message center delivers updates through the admin portal (desktop or mobile app), Microsoft Planner, or email. By setting up the weekly digest, you receive a summary of relevant changes directly in your inbox.

Before you begin

What you'll need before you get started.

• Microsoft Defender for Office 365 Plan 1 or 2
• Sufficient permissions (Message center reader as a minimum)

Steps to set up a weekly digest mail of message center changes and notifications

Perform the following steps to configure a weekly digest of message center changes in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

1. Log in to the Admin Center at https://admin.microsoft.com.
2. On the left-hand navigation, select Show All.
3. Expand Health and press Message Center.
4. On the Message Center page, select Preferences.
5. In the Preferences flyout that opens on the right, select the Email tab.
6. Make sure the email notification settings are as expected. You can select Other e-mail addresses if you want the digest to be sent to different users or a shared mailbox.
7. Select the Send me a weekly digest about services I select box, and select the services you wish to receive information about, as a minimum you should select Exchange Online & Microsoft Defender XDR.
8. Press Save.
