Configure patient population dashboard (preview)

Patient population dashboard (preview) provides a summary of the key metrics for various segments of your patient population. The feature provides the following capabilities:
- Analyze population health: Slice your patient population to track key metrics and potential disparities.
- Embed the dashboard in your applications: Seamlessly embed the dashboard in your Dynamics 365 applications. For example, embed in Patient outreach and use these insights to help guide your outreach.
- Configure with Power BI: Use Power BI to configure these dashboards based on your organization’s individual needs.
Install
This section lists the prerequisites, and the steps for installing and configuring patient population dashboard (preview).
Prerequisites
- You must have a Microsoft Power BI Pro license to configure and publish reports.
- Sign in to Power BI, select the gear icon, select Admin portal, select Tenant settings, and enable the setting for installing template apps not listed on AppSource.
Steps
Sign in to Microsoft Cloud Solution Center and select Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare from the list of solutions on the home page.
Select Operational analytics from the list of capabilities.
Select the Go to setup button from the Patient population dashboard (preview) tile to start the dashboard installation.
Sign in to Power BI, and then select the Install button to proceed.
After the app is installed, it will appear on your Power BI Apps page.
Select the app to open it.
Select Connect your data.
Enter the Dataverse environment to connect to.
Connect your account:
- For Authentication method, select OAuth2.
- For Privacy level setting for this data source, select Organizational.
- Select Sign in and connect.
After the dataset is refreshed, you'll see your organization data reflected in the visuals of the dashboard.
Note
This dashboard can be made available in the Patient outreach app (or any model-driven app) by following the steps documented in Create or edit a Power BI embedded system dashboard.
Troubleshoot
This section shows you how to troubleshoot some of the problems you may encounter with the patient population dashboard (preview).
Missing permissions
After selecting Go to setup from Solution Center, the following message is displayed to the user - "Contact your admin about permissions for installing this app".
Ensure that you have followed the prerequisite step to enable apps not listed in AppSource.
Issues with data refreshes or app updates
Ensure that the configuration is correct using the following steps and refresh the dataset:
- Go to the workspace panel and open the app workspace.
- Open the Parameters section in the dataset settings and make sure the Dataverse environment information is correct.
- If needed, open the data source credentials section, and select Edit credentials settings to reconfigure the data source.
- After the above steps are validated, go back to the app workspace and select Refresh.
- After the dataset has refreshed successfully, select the Update App option at the top-right corner of the app workspace.
Data doesn't appear
The dashboard assumes that the msemr_appointmentstatus field for the appointment entity msemr_appointmentemr has a value. Ensure that your data has values for this field, or configure the dashboard according to the shape of your data.
