Microsoft Dynamics 365 - Service Update 141 Release Notes

Service Update 141 for Microsoft Dynamics 365 9.1.0 is now available. This article describes the hotfixes and updates that are included in Service Update 117.


Note: Service Update naming convention has been revised to clarify the link between the version number and Service Update number. For example, Service Update 141 will now correspond to version number 141xx. Occasionally a Service Update will be canceled and all associated fixes will be rolled into a subsequent Service Update. For this reason, Service Update numbers may not always increase incrementally.

To determine whether your organization had this update applied, check your Microsoft Dynamics 365 version number. Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner, and then click About.

An (*) at the end of a fix statement denotes that this repair item was incorporated into multiple service update releases.

Service Update 141 resolves the following issues:

Repaired Functionality

The following list details issues whose resolutions repair items in Dynamics that are not functioning.

Knowledge Management

  • Embedded knowledge search for cases was not showing results in the "Custom" web app.
  • Rich text was not displaying in mobile offline mode.


  • The ellipsis did not display in the Account card or the Recipient card when tracking an email regarding an account, or opening an email that was tracked and pertaining to an account.
  • The task due date could not be entered in the Quick Create form.

Platform Services

  • After adding a privilege role, the audit history did not specify which role was added, and no value was in the "Old value" and "New value" fields.*
  • Retrieve Group Teams would intermittently fail.*
  • Workflows containing the trigger "Does not contain 'test'" did not execute.*
  • When capturing a new lead in CRM, the workflow stopped sending notifications that a lead was created.
  • A generic SQL error occurred when adding or making changes to anything displayed on the Timeline.
  • After creating an entity that contains an "Image" field, that field disappeared when the entity was refreshed.
  • An error occurred when opening an entity ("The entity could not be feched: An unexpected error occurred").
  • Solutions containing a custom SDK Filter component could not be deleted.
  • Tasks were not synchronized from Dynamics 365 to Dynamics to Outlook.*
  • App updates failed with an error when feature control block (FCB) was enabled ("The requested service ... has not been registered.").*
  • Performing a search using a "Contain Values" operator on the "Multiple Select Option" field produced unexpected results.*


  • Dropdown menu in "My Activities" table was expanded and collapsed by using the left and right arrow keys instead of the "Enter" or "Space" keys.*
  • When the French language was selected, the "Import log" associated view header displayed in English.
  • Skype for Business could not be updated to the latest release.*


  • The "Business Unit ID" field in the Scheduling tab of the Customer Service Hub displayed in English when a non-English language was selected.
  • When importing a solution containing an entity with an "Active" SLA state, the entity did not appear as an option in the entity dropdown menu while creating an SLA.*

Unified Interface

  • An expected error message did not appear when using Safari to debug an app with a total script download size of 25MB.
  • When an address was displayed on Bing Maps and then removed, the pinpoint was removed but the infobox remained displaying the old address.
  • After importing a solution, non-English ribbon buttons were unexpectedly replaced with base language (English) labels.*
  • An expected popup displayed before a dialog window was closed instead of after the window was closed.
  • Field list sorting was case sensitive.
  • The value for weeks in the mobile app for Dynamics 365 displayed as "(n-1)" instead of "n".*
  • The TimeControl could not be edited using a keyboard.
  • The wrong label displayed on the Phone Call entity's out-of-box quick form.
  • The Map control loaded in new forms with a specific pinpoint added to it by default.
  • The "Start time" and "End time" fields in an appointment displayed the wrong value when the "All day event" check box was selected in the form.
  • The command bar did not load for some entities (Account, Contact, and Custom).*
  • New memberships could not be created using a custom form.
  • The "Sign Out" button did not function.
  • Importing a solution failed when the design map contained comments.*
  • For emails in a draft state, its subject displayed twice on the Activity Wall.
  • The "+New Record" button in the input dropdown did not function when the "Most Recently Used" (MRU) setting was disabled.
  • Columns with the 'Onchange' handler in Editable Grids within entities were not updating when the associated column was changed.*
  • Organization language displayed in the default language, instead of the selected language.
  • Dashboards could not be viewed within the Dashboards page.

Error Messages, Exceptions, and Failures

The following list details issues whose resolutions correct actions that produce errors, unhandled exceptions, or system or component failures.


  • A database update failed with a "duplicate ID puid" exception.
  • An error occurred when validating the business process flow on a project task entity ("A field with this name already exists, Please enter different unique name").*

Knowledge Management

  • Timeline filters were unavailable ("Unable to load filters due to an unexpected error.").*


  • A syntax error occurred when accessing Unified Interface.*

Platform Services

  • With component definitions enabled, an error occurred when making a basic solution component summaries request with no parameters aside from "$filter" ("The entity with a name ... with namemapping ... was not found in the MetadataCache.").
  • Out-of-box reports were failing to run and gave an "Unhandled exception" error message.
  • Importing a solution failed with an error ("'LocalizedLabel' metadata entity doesn't contain metadata attribute with Name = 'LocalizedLabel'").*
  • Data could not be entered in charts by users with certain roles assigned to them.*
  • The error message, "Cannot assign roles or profiles to an access team" did not include the Team ID.*
  • Admins would receive a "Cannot delete a team which owns records," even after reassigning all records of that team.*
  • An error occurred when saving forms containing values for Look Up fields to Custom entities ("Try this action again….").*
  • An error occurred when accessing Dynamics 365 for Outlook ("We are unable to show Dynamics 365 App for Outlook because current user role does not have required permissions. Please contact your administrator to have required security role assigned to the Dynamics 365 App for Outlook solution.").*
  • An "Arithmetic overflow" SQL error occurred when retrieving a calculated field containing Money type parameters.*


  • When viewing a chart on the Opportunity Sales Processes home grid in Unified Interface and switching to "Process Funnel", the chart failed with an error ("There was an error retrieving the chart from the server. Please try again.").*
  • Selecting "View Hierarchy" resulted in an error ("Quick view forms are not available to render the hierarchy form."), and the Form Switcher did not function.

Unified Interface

  • An error occurred when editing an exception feedback message ("The attachment is too large. The maximum file size allowed is {0} kilobytes.”).
  • Error message for missing privilege did not contain privilege information.*
  • Entity icons did not display in the “Report” and “Resources” roles entities in Unified Interface.*
  • Unified Interface access did not function when "FCB.BrowserOfflineEnabledForTest" was enabled.*
