Restrict a document type to a specific table

You can make a specific document type available for only specific records when you select the Check table check box in the Document type form.


You want the document type LetterCust to be used only for letters to customers, not for vendors. To do this, complete the following procedure.

  1. Click Organization administration > Setup > Document management > Document types.

  2. Create a new document type with the name LetterCust. For more information, see Configure document management.

  3. Select the Check table check box.

  4. Click Options to open the Options form.

  5. In the Table field, select CustTable.

  6. Click OK and then close the Document type form.

When you attach a document to a customer record, the document type LetterCust is available to select from. However, when you attach a document to a vendor record, the document type LetterCust is not available to select from.
