Update multiple records using the Fill utility

You can update the same field for multiple records at the same time using the Fill utility. For example, to change the payment terms for a group of customers, instead of updating each customer account individually, you can use the Fill utility to update the group of customers' cash discount terms at the same time.


We recommend that you back up the database before completing this procedure.

This feature only is available if the Fill utility configuration key is selected, and it is not available for all fields in Microsoft Dynamics AX.

Update multiple records using the fill utility

  1. Open the form where the field to update is displayed.

  2. Right-click the field to update and select Record info from the menu.

  3. In the Record information form, click Fill utility.

  4. Specify the query criteria to find the records to update.

  5. Click OK.

  6. Verify that the list of records to be updated is correct.

  7. Click OK.

  8. Enter or select the value to change the field to for the list of records.

  9. Click OK.
