Test groups (form)

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Click Inventory management > Setup > Quality control > Test groups.

Use this form to set up, edit, and view test groups and the individual tests that are assigned to a test group.

The upper pane displays test groups, and the lower pane displays the tests that are assigned to a selected test group. You assign several policies to a test group. This included a sampling plan, an acceptable quality level (AQL), and the requirement for destructive testing. When you assign an individual test to a test group, you define additional information. This would include the sequence, documents, and validity dates. For a quantitative test it would also include the acceptable measurement values. For a qualitative test it would also include the test variable and default outcome.

The test group that is assigned to a quality order provides the initial basis for which tests have to be performed on the specified item. Tests can be added, deleted, or changed on the quality order. Test results are reported for each test on a quality order.

Examples

A manufacturing company defines a test group for each variation of its quality guidelines. The various test groups reflect differences in the sampling plans, the sets of tests that must be performed together, the AQL, and other factors. For quantitative tests there are also differences in the acceptable measurement values. The company enforces their quality guidelines by assigning a test group to each rule for automatically generating quality orders in the Quality associations form, and by assigning a test group to manually created quality orders.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Tabs

Tab

Description

Overview

Enter or view test groups. Select a test group in order to assign tests to the group.

General

Maintain or view information for a selected test group.

Overview

Enter or view tests that are assigned to a selected test group.

General

Maintain or view information for a selected test.

Test

Maintain or view testing details for a selected test.

Fields

Field

Description

Test group

Enter or view the identifier for a test group.

Description

Enter or view the description for a test group.

Acceptable quality level

Enter or view the AQL for the test group.

This AQL applies to the results for all tests in the test group. This overall AQL represents the percentage of tests that must pass when recording test results for a quality order.

Item sampling

Select or view the item sampling plan that applies to the group of tests. The sampling plan determines the quantity of items that must be tested when you create a quality order.

Destructive test

Select the check box if the sample will be destroyed as part of the tests in the test group. By using a destructive test, creating a quality order for an item will give you a system-generated inventory transaction. The new inventory transaction predicts the inventory reduction for the test quantity. Completion of the quality order through the validation step will result in the inventory reduction. The inventory transaction is identified as a quality order.

Sequence number

Enter or view the sequence in which a test will be performed in a series of tests throughout a test group.

Test

Enter or view the identifier for the test in the test group.

Effective date

Enter, select, or view the valid from date and time for performing the test in the test group. The default is a null value, which represents the start of time.

Expiration date

Enter or view the valid to date and time for performing the test in the test group.

Documents

View or change the document that is associated with the test in the test group. The icon indicates a book when a document has already been created.

Certificate of analysis report

Select the check box to indicate that the results of the test should be included on a certificate of analysis report. The certificate of analysis report can be generated for a quality order.

Action on failure

Select the action to take when a test cannot meet quality standards. If you select Accept, the quality order passes even if the individual test in the test group does not meet quality standards.

Action on failure

Select the action to take when a test cannot meet predefined quality standards. If you select Accept, the test passes even if the results did not meet quality standards.

Acceptable quality level

Enter or view the AQL for the test in the test group.

Standard

Enter or view the ideal test result for a quantitative test. The value is used with the fields for minimum and maximum tolerance percentages. A reported test result in the tolerance percentages is considered a pass.

Min

Enter or view the lower limit of a test result for a quantitative test. The Min field must have a lower value than the standard value. If you enter a minimum and a standard value, the system calculates the percentage in the Min tolerance (%) field.

Max

Enter or view the upper limit of a test result for a quantitative test. The Max field must have a higher value than the standard value. If you enter a maximum and a standard value, the system calculates the percentage in the Max tolerance (%) field.

Min tolerance (%)

Enter or view the minimum tolerance percentage allowed for a quantitative test. If you enter a minimum tolerance percentage and a standard value, the system calculates a value for the Min field.

Max tolerance (%)

Enter or view the maximum tolerance percentage allowed for this test whether the test type is Integer or Fraction. If you enter a maximum tolerance and a standard value, the system calculates a value for the Max field.

Variable

Select or view the variable to record test results for a qualitative test. You also have to identify the default outcome for the test. A qualitative test has a test type of option.

Default outcome

Select or view the variable's default outcome for a qualitative test.

Test instrument

Select or view the test instrument that will be used to conduct this test. The default value reflects the test instrument that is assigned to the test, but a different test instrument can be selected.

Unit

View the testing unit of measure for quality specifications and for reporting test results.
