Microsoft Dragon Copilot is our AI assistant for draft clinical documentation, turning words into a powerful productivity tool. By combining our proven conversational and ambient AI with the newest and most capable generative AI, Dragon Copilot enables users to turn their attention back to what's really important, the patient.
Introduction
Dragon Copilot is an advanced AI-driven tool designed to streamline clinical workflows. It generates draft clinical output from recordings, for a clinician's review, which can significantly enhance efficiency and accuracy in healthcare settings. Here are some key features:
Ambient conversation capture.
Draft document generation: Dragon Copilot creates draft documentation for use in clinical notes. This saves time for healthcare professionals by eliminating the need to manually transcribe or organize information.
Discrete clinical data: Beyond notes, Dragon Copilot can also generate recommendations for discrete orders, conditions, and other clinical data. This functionality ensures that partner systems receive accurate and complete clinical data in their systems.
In summary, Dragon Copilot is a valuable tool that empowers healthcare professionals and streamlines clinical processes. This guide is intended for Microsoft development partners interested in embedding this technology into partner systems.
Important
Make sure users have obtained patient consent prior to recording the patient encounter using Dragon Copilot. Your organization can give guidance on securing patient consent in accordance with the relevant laws and organizational policies. If your patient doesn't give consent, users can still use Dragon Copilot to record after the patient interaction is over.
Dragon Copilot apps
Dragon Copilot Web, Desktop, and Mobile standalone apps enable users to access the entire Dragon Copilot workflow. Once the clinical note has been finalized, users manually transfer the content into their EHR of choice. For example, a user would have both the Dragon Copilot Desktop app and their EHR running together on each workstation.
Dragon Copilot Embedded
The Dragon Copilot developer toolkit is designed for Microsoft development partners who want to embed this powerful technology into their own systems. By integrating or embedding Dragon Copilot, partners can enhance their healthcare solutions and improve patient care.
Depending on the EHR how that partner has designed their integration, some or all of the Dragon Copilot workflow is made available from within the EHR.
Ambient recordings are captured from within the EHR mobile or desktop application, rather than the Dragon Copilot apps.
Generated clinical summaries are delivered directly into the EHR and users make edits and use additional Dragon Copilot features from within the EHR.
Transfer is not necessary, as the clinical content remains in the EHR for the entire workflow.
For example, a user would use their EHR mobile and desktop apps exclusively, with Dragon Copilot features available built into the EHR.
When integrated or embedded in 3rd Party Electronic Heath Record Applications, support is provided by the EHR vendor, who is responsible for the overall workflow of their solution.
The end user is responsible for having a separate contractual relationship with the EHR. Microsoft doesn't provide or resell EHR services as part of the Dragon Copilot embedded experience.
