Upgrade Dragon Medical One from LTSR

Dragon Medical One has two active release tracks:

  • NDA (New Dragon Architecture), with the latest features and improvements.
  • LTSR (Long Term Service Release) version 2021.4.5, for environments that need additional compatibility time.

Important

LTSR version 2021.4.5 and earlier versions stop working after 31 December 2026, as the Dragon Medical One cloud system blocks them. Upgrade Dragon Medical One LTSR and earlier versions before 31 December 2026 to avoid service disconnection.

This article describes the benefits of upgrading, prerequisites, and upgrading procedures.

Benefits of NDA version

  • More compact user interface that uses less screen space.
  • Support for formatted auto-texts.
  • Training module with videos and instructional content.
  • Updated electronic health record (EHR) software support.
  • Support for Microsoft Entra ID single sign-on authentication.
  • For improved installation options, see Dragon Medical One deployment options.

Determine your current Dragon Medical One version

Use one of the following methods:

  • On the Dragon Medical One sign-in screen, check the version shown in the lower-right corner. If the version starts with 2021 or earlier, upgrade is required.

Update the Dragon Medical One configuration file

Important

Use the SoD.exe.config file included with the target version of Dragon Medical One. Don't reuse the old version's configuration file.

  • Copy the values you want to take from the LTSR config file and paste them into your new sod.exe.config file.
  • Review your existing configuration file for other custom settings, such as microphone button assignments, proxy settings, and text control mappings.
  • For more information, refer to the admin guide.

Virtualization environments

If you install Dragon Medical One on a Citrix, RDS, or RemoteApp server, make sure to use the latest client audio and button extensions (available on the Virtual environment support tab of your region's download page).

Note

Don't install extensions on Citrix, RDS, or RemoteApp servers. Uninstall extensions from older Dragon Medical One versions if present.
