Business value
Building upon the existing social and governance metric library within Microsoft Sustainability Manager, you can now use the data collection feature to gather social and governance data from various parts of your organization.
Start by defining the granularity at which you want to collect your data using dimensions. Then, send each data owner a request corresponding to the dimension or dimensions they belong to. After collecting all your data, you can use calculation models and profiles to aggregate the data back up to the metric level as needed. Finally, you can use these metrics to fulfill social and governance requirements in any of the supported disclosure reports.

Data collection enhancements are automatically enabled for both Essentials and Premium licenses, providing the following functionalities:
- Assign one or more dimension or reference data attributes to a data owner or data owner group.
- Collect social and governance data through data collection requests.
- Aggregate social and governance data by one or more dimensions.
