Use Cases - Event Management

With events being a cornerstone of driving brand awareness and pipeline, businesses, and event organizers have recognized the power of reaching a broader audience by having a virtual component (even if they host the event in-person). Virtual and hybrid events provide extended reach, enhanced accessibility, and improved scalability, delivering a high return on investment due to reduced hosting costs.

Why

Event organizers and marketers run events on LinkedIn for several reasons:

  • With over a billion members, LinkedIn can reach a broad audience of engaged, professional profiles. Not only can LinkedIn help drive brand awareness with events, LinkedIn makes it easy for members to take the next step and register for an event using prefilled information from a member’s LinkedIn profile.
  • LinkedIn can seamlessly amplify content. LinkedIn’s relevance models and distribution capabilities ensure an event can be surfaced to the right person at the right time, throughout the event lifecycle: pre, during, and post.
  • LinkedIn delivers value by fostering connections between professionals and brands, facilitating measurable growth. Its diverse range of tools and features supports scaling this growth, from thought leadership posts about events to engagement retargeting and messaging. LinkedIn’s suite of products effectively nurtures potential buyers, guiding them from event attendees to closed deals.

Why Event APIs

For event marketers, agencies, and technology platforms seeking to streamline event operations, amplify visibility, and drive meaningful connections within the professional landscape, LinkedIn’s Event APIs provide a powerful, integrated solution. By centralizing event creation, management, and promotion—both organic and paid—directly within existing workflows, these APIs empower users to effortlessly connect with their target audience on LinkedIn, maximizing event reach, engagement, and business impact.

  • Event Management API Event organizers can create an event presence on LinkedIn organically by creating an event post/page hosted on the brand’s Company Page. Once created, the event is shared with Company Page followers and LinkedIn members can be invited to join the event. Creating events on LinkedIn is available to any Company Page (no subscription or payment required), and now with the Event Management API, creation is made even easier.

  • Event Ads API Event marketers can enhance their organic LinkedIn events by opting for paid promotion, ensuring the event reaches a designated target audience effectively. With LinkedIn’s Event Ads API, partners, and their customers can seamlessly create and manage Event ad campaigns. Using the Event Ads API, event marketers can easily select target audiences and optimize delivery based on their campaign objective (e.g., brand awareness, engagement, or website visits). Campaigns can also be set up to run at specific points throughout the event lifecycle.

LinkedIn’s Event ad format offers an engaging and dynamic experience for event attendees, with the event media changing automatically throughout the event phases:

  • Pre-event: The ad showcases the cover image for the event, details on event date, timing, and location. Additionally, the ad enables the target audience to register for the event with one-click, directly in the feed.
  • During the event: The ad displays a live stream video in the feed. Clicking on the ad opens a live theater view where members can comment and react in real-time.
  • Post-event: The ad displays a video recording of the live stream in the feed, engaging those who weren’t able to attend the live event and re-engaging members who attended and wanted to watch more.
