Where can I see the high-water (HWM) mark used for the first-time earnings that are computed for Modern Work Usage?

  • Go to Customer claims page. Select the claim ID to view the claim details. Along with the Workload information section, the Monthly Active Users, Paid Available Units, and Prior High-water mark (HWM) are available.

  • Go to the Earnings page, which provides earning and payment insights. Earnings and associated usage will be available only after a Claiming Partner of Record (CPOR) claim is approved, and only for usage after the approval date. For certain scenarios, post CPOR claim approval if you're still not receiving incentives, ineligible reason codes are published. View the Revenue page to understand the ineligibility reasons.

When can I see the earnings for Modern Work usage for new program year in 2023?

First time earnings for October 2023 are available before the end of November 2023.

When can I expect to see my earnings every month?

For usage driven in a given month, earnings are available by the sixteenth of the following month. For example, for usage in November, earnings are available by December sixteenth.

How can I use the Earning page and report to reconcile Modern work usage earnings?

  1. Go to the Earnings page. The Earnings page provides earning and payment insights on the user interface, and granular earnings with more reconciliation attributes through reports that can be consumed via API or downloaded.

  2. Apply the following filters to view/download earnings pertaining to ModernWork usage engagements:

    • Solution Area as Modern Work and security
    • Partner role as Use or consume
      You can view earnings by:
    • Payment status
    • Earning/payment trend for the chosen time period
    • Earnings for top 50 Modern work usage customers (search for any Modern work usage customer)
    • Earnings by program/engagement/lever
  3. View more granular data and extensive reconciliation attributes in the Earnings: Default download, for example, monthly active users (MAU), paid available units (PAU), Prior HWM, compensable units, workload.

  4. View earnings summary by customer or by program specifically for High-water mark engagements by choosing filters. To view granular earnings and more reconciliation attributes, download the Earnings-Default report. Some key attributes used for calculating incentives are listed in this table:

    These attributes are in addition to customerId, customerName, engagementName, lever, solutionArea, partnerRole, and partnerAssociation to uniquely reconcile ModernWork usage data.

    Attributes definitions:

    • Month 1 - the program starting month
    • PHWM (month 1) = the MAX(MAU before program start), where "PHWM" stands for "Program High-water mark"
    • PHWM (month n) = PHWM month (n-1) + compensable unit month (n-1)
    • Compensable unit = MAX(MIN(MAU,PAU) - PHWM),0)
    • Earnings = compensable units * rate card

How can I use the Earnings page to reconcile payments for Modern Work usage engagements?

In the Earnings page, in the Payment summary section, all payments received are listed. A payment order is usually created for enrolled partner ID, program, and earning type combination for the defined payment period. The Earning type for Modern work usage engagements is Fee.

Apply filters, program name = “Modern Commerce Incentives”, earningType=”Fee”. To view the earnings that correspond to the payment, select the payment ID link in the Payment summary section. Earnings summary - by customer is narrowed down to reflect the earnings and payments (pretax). The Earnings summary - by program is narrowed down to reflect the engagement and earnings that are part of the payment.

Earning type is subject to change during annual policy updates.

Why have I not received earnings for Modern work usage?

If you're enrolled, you can check if you're eligible for an engagement on the Incentives - Engagements page - Eligibility section. If you're showing as ineligible, review the details for criteria not met.

In some cases, the ineligibility details aren't outlined. In these cases, refer to the Incentives - Engagements summary section to review the complete list of partner eligibility criteria or refer to the Microsoft commerce incentives guide.

If you're eligible for the engagement and the CPOR claim is approved but not yet earning, you can check for the ineligible reason on the Revenue page. On the Revenue page, select the Ineligible tab in the section named Incentives eligible and ineligible. You can add more Modern Work usage relevant columns by clicking on customize columns and selecting all values you want to see. Since the section is restricted to show only 500 rows, search for the Customer ID to get specific result-set.

I want to view Modern work usage insights for customers (CPOR approved) and are eligible for incentives. Where can I find it?

Visit the Revenue page to get usage related insights. Apply the page filters to get more narrowed down view. For example:

  • solution area = Modern Work and Security
  • Engagement name = Modern Work and Security Usage (actual names are subject to change)

Eligible revenue and ineligible revenue aren't applicable to usage based incentives.

Understand the overall ineligibility distribution by reason code by selecting View ineligible revenue and usage reasons.

To look at top 50 customers, view the usage-based earnings tab in Revenue and usage summary section. This section gives you an idea of eligible/ineligible distribution at a customer level. The Revenue and usage summary section also prepares you to select customers with ineligibility in the Incentives eligible and ineligible section.

How far back can the earnings change (or) what is the restatement policy?

What are my earnings max cap for Modern work usage?

For Max-cap values per Workload, refer to the "Modern Work & Security Usage Incentive" slide in the MCI program guide. Max caps are set at partner, customer tenant, and workload. Max caps are measured in USD, therefore a partner can't earn more than $X per tenant/workload.

Max cap reports can be downloaded from the Reports page in the Earnings workspace. Earnings - MaxCapBalance report. The Max cap reports are available only towards end of November 2023 but show data effective October first, 2023. Max cap report is refreshed every time earning is generated.
