Business value

The use of named formulas is recommended for a variety of reasons. Today, the UX provided to makers to define and browse named formulas is very basic. We're adding several UX improvements into Power Apps Studio to make it easier to browse and use named formulas in canvas apps.

Feature details

Today, named formulas are defined by navigating to the app object in the app tree view document map and then selecting the formula's property from the properties dropdown. Because there can be many named formulas defined in an app, and because formula volumes can be quite large, customers are in need of an improved experience for working with them in Power Apps Studio. We'll focus on these areas:

  • Makers can see the list of defined named formulas integrated within the recently introduced Variables & Collections pane in Power Apps Studio.
  • Makers can select a named formula within the list and be navigated directly to its definition for easy editing.
  • Makers can view a list of all references to the named formula within their app, which will make it easy to see everywhere that the named formula is used.
