Add Server Dialog Box

Used to specify a server you want to view in Server Explorer. You can enter either a URL or a server name, and you can also change the security context or search for a computer if you do not know its full name.

To access this dialog box, select Connect to Server from the Tools menu or click the Connect to Server icon in Server Explorer.

User Interface Element List

  • Computer
    The name of the server for which you want to examine resources. You can enter a URL or UNC file path.

  • Connect using a different user name
    Click this link to access the Connect As dialog box, which allows you to change the security context with which you will connect to the specified server. By default, you will be logged on with the current user ID.
