Visual Basic

Function TestConnectivity() As String

Parameters

This method has no parameters.

Return Value

This method returns a string value that specifies the results of the connectivity tests if successful. Otherwise, an error is raised that can be intercepted by using an error handler.

Remarks

When this method is called, Forefront TMG first attempts to resolve the name specified in the WebSite or PublishedServer property. After the name is resolved to an IP address, Forefront TMG tries to establish a TCP/IP connection with the published Web server. For a publishing rule that requires an SSL connection with the published server, an attempt is made to establish such a connection and to test the certificate for validity according to the configuration settings defined in the rule. Forefront TMG also sends an HTTP GET request to the published server and waits for a response. If a response is received, Forefront TMG compares its authentication requirements and methods to the requirements specified in the configuration settings of the rule.
