Turn off AutoSave as Web page

The AutoSave as Web page feature automatically updates your saved Web pages when changes are saved to the map file from which it was created. You may want to turn off this feature in certain circumstances, such as when making interim changes to a map, adding confidential or sensitive information, or saving a map file that was created by someone who is not a trusted source. You can turn off the AutoSave as Web page feature for a specific map. You can also turn off the AutoSave as Web page feature temporarily while making changes to a map file.

To turn off AutoSave as Web page for a specific map

  1. On the File menu, click Manage saved Web pages.

  2. Select the Web page for which you want to disable the AutoSave as Web page feature.

  3. Click Edit.

The Save as Web Page dialog box opens.

  4. Clear the AutoSave as Web page every time this map is saved check box.

  5. Click OK.

  6. Repeat steps 2–5 for every Web page for which you want to disable AutoSave.

  7. Click Close.

To turn off AutoSave as Web page temporarily while making changes to a map file

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.

  2. On the Settings tab, under Save as Web, select the Show autosave message on save check box, and then click OK.

  3. Make modifications to your map, and then on the File menu, click Save.

  4. In the AutoSave as Web dialog box, click Disable the AutoSave as Web feature while this map is open, and then click OK.

Note   The AutoSave as Web page feature is turned off for the current change and any other changes saved to the map until the map file is closed. The next time the map file is opened, the AutoSave feature will be turned on again, and you will be prompted about whether to save the changes to your Web pages.

Tip   If you will be making multiple changes to your map file over many sessions and you don't want those interim changes to be made to your Web page, you can turn off AutoSave as Web page. Then, when you're ready to update the Web page, you can either change the Web page to reflect the changes or you can change the Save as Web page options to again turn on the AutoSave as Web page feature.
