Step 8: Verify the Management Agents

Verifying the Extensible Connectivity 2.0 Management Agent Beta test lab consists of the following:

  • Run a Full Import on the FileBasedECMA2Example MA

  • Run a Full Import on the AD MA

  • Run a Full Synchronization on the FileBasedECMA2Example MA

  • Run a Full Synchronization on the AD MA

  • Run an Export on the FileBasedECMA2Example MA

  • Run an Export on the AD MA

  • Verify the Export XML file.

  • Verify the Export to Active Directory.

  • Run a Delta Import on the FileBasedECMA2Example MA

Run a Full Import on the FileBasedECMA2Example MA

In order to verify our management agents, we will start by populating the connector spaces of each MA.

To Run a Full Import on the FileBasedECMA2Example MA

  1. In the Synchronization Service Manager, at the top, under Management Agents, click FileBasedECMA2Example.

  2. On the right, under Actions menu, click Run. This opens the Run Management Agent window.

  3. From the list, select Full Import and then click OK. This will take a moment. It should finish with Import Statistics in the lower left window and no errors and tow imports.

Run a Full Import on the AD MA

In order to verify our management agents, we will start by populating the connector spaces of each MA.

To run a Full Import on the AD MA

  1. In the Synchronization Service Manager, at the top, under Management Agents, click AD.

  2. On the right, under Actions menu, click Run. This opens the Run Management Agent window.

  3. From the list, select Full Import and then click OK. This will take a moment. It should finish with Import Statistics in the lower left window and no errors and tow imports.

Run a Full Synchronization on the FileBasedECMA2Example

Now that the connector spaces are populated we will run synchronizations to project objects into the metaverse and provision objects to their respective connector spaces.

To run a Full Synchronization on the FileBasedECMA2Example

  1. In the Synchronization Service Manager, at the top, under Management Agents, click FileBasedECMA2Example.

  2. On the right, under Actions menu, click Run. This opens the Run Management Agent window.

  3. From the list, select Full Synchronization and then click OK. This will take a moment. It should finish with Synchronization Statistics in the lower left window and no errors.

Run a Full Synchronization on the AD MA

Run an Export on the FileBasedECMA2Example MA

Now we will run and export and export the new objects into an XML file.

To run an Export on the FileBasedECMA2Example MA

  1. In the Synchronization Service Manager, at the top, under Management Agents, click FileBasedECMA2Example.

  2. On the right, under Actions menu, click Run. This opens the Run Management Agent window.

  3. From the list, select Export and then click OK. This will take a moment. It should finish with Export Statistics in the lower left window and no errors.

Run an Export on the AD MA

Now we will run and export and export the new objects into Active Directory.

To run an Export on the AD MA

  1. In the Synchronization Service Manager, at the top, under Management Agents, click AD.

  2. On the right, under Actions menu, click Run. This opens the Run Management Agent window.

  3. From the list, select Export and then click OK. This will take a moment. It should finish with Export Statistics in the lower left window and no errors.

Verify the Export XML file.

Now we will verify the XML file.

To verify the Export XML file.

  1. Now navigate to the following directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager\2010\Synchronization Service\MaData\FileBasedECMA2Example and verify there is an export_file.xml file.

  2. Open the export_file.xml file and verify that Object100 and Object101 are there.

Verify the Export to Active Directory.

Now we will verify the export to AD.

To Verify the Export to Active Directory..

  1. Log on to DC1.corp.contoso.com as CORP\Administrator.

  2. Click Start, select Administrative Tools, and click Active Directory Users and Computers. This will open the Active Directory Users and Computers mmc.

  3. In Active Directory Users and Computers click ECMA2 and verify that Object1 and Object2 have been created.

  4. Close Active Directory Users and Computers

Run a Delta Import on the FileBasedECMA2Example MA

Now we will verify the delta import for the the Extensible Connectivity 2.0 Management Agent.

To Run a Delta Import on the FileBasedECMA2Example MA

  1. Back on FIM1.corp.contoso.com, in the Synchronization Service Manager, at the top, under Management Agents, click FileBasedECMA2Example.

  2. On the right, under Actions menu, click Run. This opens the Run Management Agent window.

  3. From the list, select Delta Import and then click OK. This will take a moment. It should finish with Import Statistics in the lower left window and no errors and tow imports.

  4. Now, double-click on Updates. This will bring up the Object Details. Double-click on the number 1. This will bring up the connector space object properties. Verify the modifies.
