How to List Available Resource Mailboxes and Their Properties

This topic explains how to use the Exchange Management Console or the Exchange Management Shell to list available resource mailboxes and their properties. A resource mailbox is a mailbox that represents conference rooms and company equipment. Resource mailboxes can be included as resources in meeting requests, providing a simple and efficient way to utilize resources for an organization. The user account that is associated with a resource mailbox is disabled.

Before You Begin

To run the Get-Mailbox cmdlet, the account you use must be delegated the following:

  • Exchange Recipient Administrator role

Procedure

To use the Exchange Management Console to list available resource mailboxes and their properties

  1. Start the Exchange Management Console.

  2. In the console tree, expand Recipient Configuration, and then click Mailbox.

  3. In the result pane, click Create Filter.

  4. Use the drop-down lists to create a filter that displays the resource mailboxes you want. If you want to display conference room mailboxes, select Recipient Type Details, select Equals, and then select Conference Room Mailbox. If you want to display equipment mailboxes, select Recipient Type Details, select Equals, and then select Equipment Mailbox.

  5. Click Apply Filter to display results.

To use the Exchange Management Shell to list available resource mailboxes and their properties

  • Run the following command to list available conference room mailboxes:

    Get-Mailbox -RecipientTypeDetails RoomMailbox
    
  • Run the following command to list available equipment mailboxes:

    Get-Mailbox -RecipientTypeDetails EquipmentMailbox
