Exclude programs from error reporting

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To exclude programs from error reporting

  1. Open System in Control Panel.

  2. On the Advanced tab, click Error Reporting.

  3. Select Enable error reporting, and then click Choose Programs.

  4. Under Do not report errors for these programs, click Add.

  5. Type the program's executable name, such as winword.exe for Microsoft Word. If you do not know the program's executable name, click Browse, locate the folder that contains the program, and then double-click the file that has the extension .exe or that has the file type executables.

Notes

  • To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. If the computer is joined to a domain, members of the Domain Admins group might be able to perform this procedure. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure.

  • To open System, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.

  • To open System from a command line as an administrator, type:

    runas /user: computername \Administrator "rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL sysdm.cpl"

  • To remove a program from the Do not report errors for these programs list, click the program you want to remove, and then click Remove.

  • If your organization has configured Group Policy, you can exclude programs from error reporting by using the Group Policy Object Editor snap-in to configure the error reporting policy settings.
