Before You Import the Management Pack
Applies To: Operations Manager 2007
Before you import the Windows Server Failover Cluster Management Pack, note the following limitations of the management pack:
Agentless monitoring is not supported.
All cluster nodes must have an Operations Manager 2007 Agent installed.
Before you import the Windows Server Failover Cluster Management Pack, take the following actions:
Ensure that Operations Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Operations Manager 2007 R2 is installed.
If you are running Operations Manager 2007 SP1, ensure that all quick fix engineering (QFE) repairs that enable Operations Manager 2007 to run on Windows Server 2008 are installed. For more information and to download the QFEs, see Support for running System Center Operations Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 and System Center Essentials 2007 Service Pack 1 on a Windows Server 2008-based computer (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=136509).
It is recommended that you download and install hotfix 958807 on all Windows Server 2008 cluster servers that are managed by Operations Manager 2007. For more information and to download this hotfix, see Windows Server 2008 Failover Clustering WMI provider does not correctly handle invalid characters in the private property names causing WMI queries to fail (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=133791).
Note
This hotfix enables the Clustering WMI provider to discover Exchange 2007 clusters. Without this hotfix, Exchange 2007 clusters will not be discovered.
If you are running Operations Manager 2007 SP1 and you are using clusters with multiple network names, install the hotfix in the Knowledge Base article Issues that are resolved by the Operations Manager Module rollup update for System Center Operations Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=155339), and follow the instructions in the section of the article titled “Enabling multiple entries for network name resources”.
You must import the Windows Server Operating System Management Pack.
Download and import the following management packs from the Windows Server Operating System Management Pack:
Microsoft.Windows.Server.Library.mp (version 6.0. 6667.0 or later)
Microsoft.Windows.Server.2008.Discovery.mp (version 6.0.6667.0 or later)
Microsoft.Windows.Server.2003.mp (version 6.0. 6667.0 or later)
Enable the Agent Proxy setting on all agents that are installed on servers that are members of a cluster.
Warning
Discoveries and monitoring will not function unless proxy is enabled.
To enable the Agent Proxy setting on all agents
Open the Operations console, and then click Administration.
In the Administrator pane, click Agent Managed.
Double-click an agent in the list.
Click the Security tab.
Select Allow this agent to act as a proxy and discover managed objects on other computers.
Repeat steps 3 through 5 for each agent that is installed on a clustered server.
If you have version 6.0.6277.0 of the Windows Server 2003 Cluster Management Pack
If you have installed the Windows Server 2003 Cluster Management Pack 6.0.6277.0, remove the following management pack files prior to importing this management pack:
Microsoft.Windows.2003.Cluster.Management.Monitoring
Microsoft.Windows.2003.Cluster.Management.Library
Microsoft.Windows.Cluster.Management.Monitoring
Microsoft.Windows.Cluster.Management.Library
Note
If you have any other version of the Cluster Management Pack, you can upgrade the management pack without performing the previous steps.
An in-place upgrade is supported for Windows Server 2003 Cluster Management Pack versions 6.0.6277.1 and higher.
