Configuring Authorized Applications in Windows Firewall

When you enable the Windows Firewall for a device, it blocks all outside sources from connecting to this device, with the exception of those you specify in the Authorized Applications list. This allows the specified applications access to the device through ports on your Firewall that would otherwise be closed.

To configure Authorized Applications settings

  1. In Target Designer, open your .slx file.
  2. In Configuration editor, click the Windows Firewall and Internet Connection Sharing component, and then click Settings.
  3. Choose On (recommended) if it is not already selected.
  4. Click the show link that is adjacent to Authorized Applications.
  5. Type the Program Name of the application you want to allow to communicate through a port.
  6. Type the Program Path, and use system variables to specify the location where the program is located on your target device.
  7. Choose whether you want to allow this application to communicate to Any source, which could include any computer on the Internet, or Local network only, which limits communications to computers on your local subnet.
  8. To enable this application, select the checkbox.
