Executive Summary
This security update resolves a vulnerability in Microsoft Windows. The vulnerability could allow elevation of privilege if the Windows graphics component fails to properly process bitmap conversions. An authenticated attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could elevate privileges on a targeted system. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full administrative rights. An attacker must first log on to the system to exploit this vulnerability.

Vulnerability Information
Graphics Component EOP Vulnerability - CVE-2015-2364
An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists in the Windows graphics component when it fails to properly process bitmap conversions. An authenticated attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could elevate privileges on a targeted system. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full administrative rights.
To exploit the vulnerability, an attacker must first log on to the system. An attacker could then run a specially crafted application that is designed to increase privileges. The update addresses the vulnerability by correcting how Windows processes bitmap conversions.
Microsoft received information about this vulnerability through coordinated vulnerability disclosure. When this security bulletin was originally issued Microsoft had not received any information to indicate that this vulnerability had been publicly used to attack customers.
