Introduction

Completed

Microsoft 365 Copilot brings AI into the Microsoft 365 apps you use every day, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. One way to work with Copilot is through Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, where you can ask questions in natural language, summarize information, and create first drafts.

Copilot Chat also includes prebuilt agents. Each agent is designed for a specific type of task, such as research, data analysis, writing improvement, ideation, or prompt refinement. Instead of using the same approach for every request, you can choose the agent that best matches the kind of help you need.

You don't need to build or train these agents yourself. If an agent is available in your Microsoft 365 Copilot experience, you can select it and start asking questions in plain language. For example, one agent can help you summarize information from your work data, while another can help you improve a prompt before you reuse it.

Like other Microsoft 365 Copilot experiences, prebuilt agents respect the permissions and policies in your Microsoft 365 environment. They can only use the content that you already have permission to access.

Note

This module covers many of the key prebuilt agents available in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. However, it may not include every agent currently offered. Microsoft continues to expand and evolve the collection of prebuilt agents, so the set of available agents may change over time.

In this module, you learn how to use several prebuilt agents, what each one is best suited for, and where you should still apply human judgment. Whether you're preparing a briefing, reviewing data, improving a draft, or shaping an idea, the right agent can help you work more efficiently.
