Will you organize your own internal tournaments? Will you enter external tournaments hosted by other schools? Will you enter external tournaments hosted by third party organizers?

Some tournament organizers include:

  • NUEL
  • Amazon University Esports
  • NSE
  • NASEF
  • British Esports Association
  • High School Esports League
  • Australian Esports League
  • Exun
  • Code Wars
  • Mind Sports South Africa
  • PlayVS
  • PUBG Mobile Campus

There are some specific areas to consider when creating or entering tournaments:

  • Timing of matches – lunchtime, after school, evenings, weekend, school holiday?
    • What will be the best for your student community?
    • If these events are happening in-person, consider things such as travel, transportation, food, etc. for these events too.
  • Where are the students playing from? School or Home? Consider the implications for both options.
  • Communication between teacher and student, student and student, team and team or school and school.
    • How will this communication happen?
  • What safeguarding practices are in place or need to be considered?
  • Do you need licenses or permissions?
  • If you're entering an organized school's tournament, what are the costs involved?
    • What support are you given?
    • What are the safeguarding policies and procedures of the organizers?
    • When are the fixtures?
    • Over how long?
