Reclassify inventory with the Warehouse Reclassification Journals

To complete this exercise, you must set up your demo company with sample data. The steps to do this are available in the previous module (Move items in Dynamics 365 Business Central) of this learning path.

Scenario

On April 20, 2020, two LS-150 speakers on bin W-05-0008 got damaged and they need to be removed from inventory. You are asked to enter a line in the warehouse item journal and register a negative quantity of two for the item. Once the warehouse item journal is registered, you inform your colleagues from the finance department that they can calculate the warehouse adjustments and post the item journal.

  • Create and register a line in the warehouse item journal as described in the scenario.

  • Calculate the warehouse adjustments and post the item journal.

Steps

  1. Create and register a line in the warehouse item journal as described in the scenario.

    1. Select the Search for page icon in the top-right corner of the page, enter warehouse item journals, and select the related link.

    2. In the Registering field, enter 04/20/2020.

    3. In the Item No. field, enter LS-150.

    4. In the Zone Code field, select BULK.

    5. In the Bin Code field, select W-05-0008.

    6. In the Quantity field, enter -2.

    7. Select Process, Register, and then Yes.

    8. Select OK and return to your role center.

  2. Calculate the warehouse adjustments and post the item journal.

    1. Select the Search for page icon in the top-right corner of the page, enter item journals, and select the related link.

    2. Select Actions, Functions, and then Calculate Warehouse Adjustment.

    3. Select OK.

    4. On the Item Journal page, select Post/Print, Post, and then Yes to post the negative adjustment for item LS-150.
