Instructions for Creating Bootable Windows PE Media with ARM64 WinPE-HTA OC

To create bootable Windows PE media containing the ARM64 WinPE-HTA Optional Component (OC), follow these steps:

  1. Download Required Updates

    • Download the 2024-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for ARM64-based Systems (KB5043080) from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
    • Download the latest Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 (or later) for ARM64-based Systems from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
  2. Prepare the WinPE Image

    • Mount the WinPE image that you will be customizing. Refer to WinPE: Mount and Customize for detailed instructions on how to mount the image.
  3. Add ARM64 WinPE-HTA OC

    • WinPE-HTA OC has a dependency on the Scripting OC. Add the ARM64 WinPE-Scripting OC to the mounted WinPE image.
    • Add the ARM64 WinPE-HTA OC to the mounted WinPE image.

  4. Apply Windows Updates

    • Apply the 2024-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 (KB5043080) to the mounted WinPE image. This update serves as the baseline package.
    • Next, apply the latest Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 (or later) to the mounted WinPE image. This update includes support for the ARM64 WinPE-HTA OC.

  5. Create Bootable Media
