Windows 11, version 26H1

Windows 11, version 26H1 is a specialized Windows release designed to support the next generation of hardware innovation in partnership with device manufacturers and silicon partners. This release is available only preinstalled on select new devices coming to market in early 2026 and is intentionally scoped for these platforms. This article provides context on this release for the IT admins managing devices on behalf of their organization.

Windows 11, version 26H1 isn't a feature update

Unlike annual Windows feature updates, such as versions 24H2 and 25H2, Windows 11, version 26H1 isn't offered through Windows Update. This means that it can't be installed as an in-place update on existing devices. Windows 11, version 26H1 isn't intended for broad deployment across the existing Windows 11 ecosystem.

For IT admins, Windows 11, versions 24H2 and 25H2 remain the recommended releases for enterprise deployment, with no changes required to existing rollout, update, or purchasing plans. Organizations that wish to evaluate new hardware platforms can choose to adopt version 26H1 selectively, without impacting the rest of their environment. Lifecycle

Windows 11, version 26H1 was released on February 10, 2026, and follows the Windows 11 servicing timeline:

• Windows 11 Pro: Serviced for 24 months from the release date.
• Windows 11 Enterprise: Serviced for 36 months from the release date.

Servicing and updates

Microsoft continues to release monthly security updates and non-security preview updates for all supported versions of Windows, including Windows 11, version 26H1. You can find more information about these updates in the release notes and on Windows release health.

Devices running Windows 11, version 26H1 won't be able to update to the next annual feature update in the second half of 2026. This is because 26H1 is based on a different Windows core than 24H2, 25H2, and the upcoming feature update. These devices will have a path to update in a future Windows release.

Windows 11 devices running versions 24H2 and 25H2 remain fully supported and continue to receive updates through the established annual feature update cadence targeting the second half of the calendar year.
