CBaseRenderer.StartStreaming method

[The feature associated with this page, DirectShow, is a legacy feature. It has been superseded by MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine, and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation. Those features have been optimized for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Microsoft strongly recommends that new code use MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation instead of DirectShow, when possible. Microsoft suggests that existing code that uses the legacy APIs be rewritten to use the new APIs if possible.]

The StartStreaming method initiates streaming when the filter switches to a running state.

Syntax

virtual HRESULT StartStreaming();

Parameters

This method has no parameters.

Return value

Returns S_OK or another HRESULT value.

Remarks

If the filter has a sample, it schedules the sample for rendering. Otherwise, if there is a pending end-of-stream notification, the filter sends an EC_COMPLETE event to the filter graph manager.

This method calls the CBaseRenderer::OnStartStreaming method. That method does nothing in the base class, but the derived class can override it.
