Azure Data Box Gateway cannot generate the activation key.

I completed the Azure Data Gateway installation process. I've completed all the steps, and the appliance is installed correctly and without errors. However, I can't generate the activation key. I receive the following error: Message: (Http status code: 500) Data Box Edge service encountered an internal error.

Wait for a few minutes and then try the operation again. If the issue persists, contact Microsoft Support.

What can I do to generate it?

    Hello Carlos Gonzaga Rodriguez,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

It sounds like you're encountering an internal server error when trying to generate the activation key for your Azure Data Gateway. To address the issue, please follow these steps:

    • As the error message suggests, sometimes these issues are temporary. Wait for a few minutes and then try generating the activation key again.
    • Verify if there are any ongoing issues with Azure services that might be affecting the Data Box Edge service. You can check the Azure status page here.
    • You can check the logs for any additional error messages or details that might give more insight into the issue. This can help identify if there are any specific problems with the installation or configuration.
    • Ensure that your Azure Data Gateway appliance is up to date with the latest patches and updates. Try restarting the appliance can resolve internal errors.
    • Verify that your network configuration is correct and that there are no firewall or proxy settings blocking the connection to Azure services.
    • Open the Gateway app from the Start menu and verify that it is running. Go to the Diagnostics page and perform a Network Test to ensure there are no issues.
    • Ensure that the region of the Gateway installation matches the region where you are trying to create the on-premises data gateway resource.
    • Open the Azure portal and run the following PowerShell command in the cloud shell to check your Azure subscription (Ensure that only one tenant ID is returned. If there are multiple tenant IDs, log in with an account that has only one tenant ID): powershell Get-AzureRmSubscription

Please let me know if the information provided was useful and if you have any concerns with it.

    Regards,

    Gao
