Product: Windows 11 Pro Builds affected: 26100.4770 and later (24H2 Feature Update) Hardware: Multiple (tested on Acer Nitro AN515-57, also one "Old" Lenovo Ideapad, Acer Nitro with certified WiFi6/Intel/NVIDIA hardware) Display receivers: Aurzen ZIP Mini Projector (Wi-Fi Miracast), LG TV Miracast Firmware: Latest in the Aurzen (manual firmware update for Aurzen ZIP).
Description: Since updating to build 26100.4770 (and newer), Miracast no longer works with previously compatible Miracast receivers. The system connects, no visible errors, the Miracast negotiation completes, but only a black screen is shown on the receiver. Desktop/Windows recognizes the device, and everything appears to “work” except there is no image—sometimes only the background is visible, never the windows.
What was tested and discarded as the cause:
- Firmware recently updated in the Aurzen ZIP.
- Full driver cleanup and reinstall (NVIDIA/Intel/Realtek) in the Acer Nitro.
- Clean reconfiguration of Hyper-V, WSL2, and vEthernet interfaces.
- Clean Boot (all 3rd party services disabled).
All possible resolution combinations, different mirroring/extend modes (Win+P, Win+K)
- Direct comparison with another PC (Lenovo Ideapad, also Windows 11 Pro) but kept UNUPDATED (because is my previous PC and it has been off after several years): The unpatched system works perfectly with Miracast & ZIP projector
**The updated system NEVER works with the same device and user environment**
- Tested with Ubuntu 24.04 LiveUSB on the SAME hardware (Acer Nitro): Miracast works perfectly with the ZIP projector—no glitches
So, hardware, Wi-Fi, and network environment are all OK.
Firmware on receivers is up to date and has also been reflashed for testing.
No relevant errors or logs appear in Windows Event Viewer or Reliability Monitor: All logs report “Successful Connection” or info-level events, no error codes, no HDCP handshake failures, etc.
Conclusion:
The only possible origin for the “black screen on Miracast” bug is the recent Windows 11 update.
- This breaks compatibility and renders my previously working device Aurzen ZIP and workflows useless.
It affects all tested hardware and is not fixable with any driver, firmware, or user-level workaround.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Install Windows 11 Pro/Enterprise, fully update to build 26100.4770 (or 4946+).
- Connect "wireless screen" to receiver Aurzen ZIP Projector.
Observe:
Connection is established, Miracast handshakes finish (per logs, no error).
The receiver shows only a black screen/client background; never the desktop or apps.
- Repeat steps on Ubuntu 24.04 LiveUSB, SAME hardware/Wi-Fi/network:
- Miracast works flawlessly.
