Windows 11 loses internet connection after waking from sleep mode

hi

Almost every time the computer wakes from sleep, it loses the internet connection. It usually takes some time and opening a browser before the connection comes back, although I don’t need to restart the computer.

I’ve already disabled the setting ‘allow the computer to turn off this device to save power’ in the network adapter properties. Windows 11 has the latest updates, and the network adapter drivers are up to date.

Is there anything else that might help with this issue?

    Hi there,

Thanks for the update, and I really appreciate you trying the steps I provided. If the issue returns, I’d also recommend to updating your network driver directly from your device manufacturer’s website especially if you're using an Intel or Realtek wireless adapter. And checking for any power-saving settings just go to Device Manager > Network adapters > Your Wi-Fi adapter > Properties > Power Management tab and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”

Feel free to update me if the problem comes back I'm here to help further!

    Warm regards,

    Cherrelyn

    Thank you for your reply.

I followed the instructions, but it didn’t help. Now I’m trying not to keep F-Secure’s VPN on when I start the computer. At least for now it seems like that might help. I’ll keep testing and update here.

    Hi there,

I'm Cherrelyn, an Independent Advisor, I'm here to help and I understand how inconvenient it is when your PC keeps losing internet after waking from sleep. Since you tried one of the most common fixes here's I suggest that might help is disable fast startup sometimes Fast Startup interferes with network adapters just press Windows + X - Power Options then click Additional power settings click choose what the power buttons do click change settings that are currently unavailable and uncheck Turn on fast startup then Save. Then reset the Network Stack run this Command Prompt (Admin)

    netsh int ip reset
    netsh winsock reset
    ipconfig /flushdns

then restart your PC. And lastly set a Delayed Start for the Adapter this gives time for services to fully load just press Windows + R, type services.msc find the Network Connections right click and go to Properties then set Startup type to Automatic (Delayed Start).

Let me know about my suggestion, I'm here to help for further assistance.

    Warm regards,

    Cherrelyn
