Equitable opportunities for students

Completed 100 XP

Many school leaders are challenged with closing achievement gaps in education. Achievement gaps could be considered by gender, race, language, socioeconomic status, and more. Leaders work with teachers to disaggregate data and look at these achievement gaps together. Leaders must consider possible barriers that impact learning for students in the different groups being taught. These impediments could be a language barrier or possibly a disability and/or learning difference. Access to the curriculum can also be a barrier or it might be a financial hardship that limits participation in real-world experiences.

Using Microsoft Teams meetings and live events can level the playing field by exposing students to the same opportunities. Sharing accessibility tools such as Immersive Reader, Office Lens, and PowerPoint Live can give equal access to the curriculum for students and parents.

Use cases

  • Use Teams meetings to invite guest speakers to attend career fairs, college fairs, and much more. Teachers can view the meeting on a computer, projector, or interactive board in the classroom allowing students to participate from class or home.
  • Use Teams live events to create large-scale virtual events such as field trips or presenters from around the world.
  • Encourage teachers to increase student comprehension and build confidence using Immersive Reader.
  • Connect with parents and the community by taking advantage of Teams live events.
