Welcome to Microsoft Community, Thank you for reaching us. We understand you are having issues on your OneDrive unable to log in due to this error 0x8004de40. Reason the error is possible your OneDrive unable to connect to the Cloud.
Possible reason on this error 0x8004de40 is Internet connection, Application outdated or not responding properly.
Please follow this steps to help us fix your problem.
(REPAIR ONEDRIVE APP ON YOUR WINDOWS)
Check OneDrive icon on system tray near the date and time
Right click > Settings > Quit OneDrive
Click Start / Windows button > Go to Settings
Go to Apps > Installed Apps > search OneDrive
click 3 dots > click Advance option or Modify
Run "Stop" after this > Run "Repair"
restart Device > Reopen OneDrive
Log in with your account > Check the status
If still the same proceed next step below:
(CLEAR CACHE ONEDRIVE APP ON WINDOWS)
Check OneDrive icon on system tray near the date and time
Right click > Settings > Quit OneDrive
Click Start / Windows button > Search "File Explorer"
on Path folder section copy and paste this path
"%localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\cache"
select all and delete all folders and files
Reopen OneDrive > Log in with your account > Check the status
If still the same proceed next step below:
(UPDATE ONEDRIVE APP ON YOUR WINDOWS)
Open any browsers
Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/onedrive/download
click download OneDrive
Download and install and it will update existing OneDrive
restart your device > Reopen OneDrive > Log in with your account
Check the status
If still the same proceed next step below:
(ENABLE TLS PROTOCOL)
Click Start / Windows button > Search "RUN"
type "inetcpl.cpl" > Advance TAB > below put check on
TLS 1 and TLS 2 > click OK
restart your device > Reopen OneDrive > Log in with your account
Check the status
