Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

Display archived certificates

Archived are certificates that have expired or have been renewed. In many cases, it is good practice to retain archived certificates instead of deleting them. For example, you would need to keep an archived certificate to verify digital signatures on old documents signed using the key on the now-expired or renewed certificate.

To display archived certificates

  1. Open the Certificates console for the user, computer, or service you want to manage.

    Tip

For instructions on creating a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) that allows you to manage the certificates of a user account, computer account, or service account, see the appropriate article from the following list

  1. Manage certificates for your user account

  2. Manage certificates for a computer

  3. Manage certificates for a service

  1. Ensure you have Certificates <console type> selected. Where <console type> is Current User, Computer, or Service, depending upon the category of certificates you want to view.

  2. click the View menu, and then click Options.

  3. In the View Options dialog box, in Show the following, select the Archived certificates.
