Help me find lost or missing files in OneDrive

Question

i am missing about 300gb of files in my personal one drive. I was setting up a new pc with my account and automatically one drive was syncing my persoanl file, which i did not want to sync them in this pc, so i click remove, thinking that it will remove from this pc.

However, they were deleting from the online account. so i stopped that i went to restore those files from the recycle bin, but i am still missing 300 gb of files.

Please help, there is nothing left in the recycle bin.

To answer your question, when you restore your OneDrive to a previous date, you are undoing all the activities that happened after that date. This means that any files or folders that were created, modified, or deleted after that date will be restored to their original state. However, this also means that any changes you made to your files after that date will be lost, unless you have a backup copy of them.

For example, if you restore your OneDrive to 3 days ago, you will get back all the items that were deleted 2 days ago, but you will also lose any changes you made to your files 3 days ago. If you want to keep those changes, you will need to save a copy of those files before you restore your OneDrive. You can do this by downloading them to your computer or another cloud storage service.

Alternatively, you can also restore individual files or folders to a previous version, instead of restoring your entire OneDrive. This way, you can recover the files that were deleted without affecting the files that were modified. You can do this by following these steps:

• Go to the OneDrive website and sign in with your account.
• Find the file or folder that you want to restore and right-click on it.
• Select Version history from the menu.

• If you have a Microsoft 365 subscription, you can use the **Restore your OneDrive** feature to undo all the actions that occurred on your files and folders within the last 30 days. This can help you recover your files if they were deleted, overwritten, corrupted, or infected by malware. To use this feature, you need to sign in to the OneDrive website, select **Settings** > **Options**, and then select **Restore your OneDrive** from the left navigation. You can then choose a date and time to restore your OneDrive to a previous state.
• If you don't have a Microsoft 365 subscription, or if the files were deleted more than 30 days ago, you can try to use a third-party data recovery software to scan your hard drive and recover the deleted files. However, this method is not guaranteed to work, especially if the files were overwritten by new data or if the hard drive was formatted.
• If you have another device that is synced with your OneDrive account, you can check if the files are still available on that device. You can then copy them back to your OneDrive or to another backup location. However, this method will only work if the device was not connected to the internet when the files were deleted, or if the sync process was interrupted or paused.

Thank you very much for your quick reply and listing all the options. I have found the restore your one drive option.

However, I am not sure how to proceed it. I found all the activities from 1 to up to 29 days. I am supposed to click and select all the items that were deleted? Or from even further days ago?

For example today I have restored all the items that were on the recycle bin, but 2 days ago a lot of items were deleted and then 3 days ago I made some changes to some files. I were to restore the one from 3 days ago, will all my items go back to my files?
