On the old computer (Windows 10), if I click on the OneDrive icon in the taskbar there are no error messages, just two blue circular arrows and when I hover the mouse over the cloud icon, a pop-up says that it's processing 52,000 changes. If I click on the Open OneDrive button there, those same two arrows appear next to all my folders.
If I connect to OneDrive online, I don't see any recent files created on my old or my new computer.
If I connect to the OneDrive folder on my old computer, I see files created in September that don't appear in the OneDrive folder on my new computer or in OneDrive online.
I now have many different versions of the same files:
- a version on the hard disk of my old computer
- a more recent and updated version in a file of the same name in the OneDrive folder of my old computer, where I started saving after copying everything to OneDrive
- a version of the same file in the OneDrive folder on my new computer (partially complete; lots of recent documents are missing)
- a version on OneDrive Online (partially complete; lots of recent documents are missing)
- and new documents which I'm now saving to my hard disk on the new computer because I'm worried they'll disappear depending on the effects of the synching process.
All I wanted was to easily be able to access my files from both computers and save my files to the cloud without anything disappearing, but instead I now have a situation in which I risk losing an enormous number of documents and work, depending on what gets synched.
How can I resolve this?
