Hello Pasquale,
Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Q&A Forum regarding your request to resend Microsoft 365 credentials to a shared user, following a device change. I understand how important it is for your family to maintain seamless access to Office 365 and OneDrive.
How to Help a Family Member Sign In to Office 365 and OneDrive on a New PC
- No Need to Resend Credentials Directly: Microsoft 365 credentials (username and password) are not typically “resent” via email for security reasons. Instead, your daughter can simply sign in to Office 365 and OneDrive on her new PC using the same Microsoft account email and password that was used previously.
- If She Forgot Her Password:
- Re-inviting a Family Member (If Needed):
- If your daughter is not seeing the shared subscription, you can resend the invitation from your Microsoft account dashboard:
- Sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365/sharing.
- Under the “Sharing” tab, find your daughter’s name and select “Resend invite.” She will receive a new email invitation to join the family group and access Microsoft 365.
- She must accept the invitation within 48 hours. If the invite expires, you can send it again.
- Signing In on the New PC:
- On the new device, open any Office app (Word, Excel, etc.) or OneDrive.
- When prompted, enter the Microsoft account email and password associated with the shared subscription.
- If prompted, follow the steps to verify the account and complete the sign-in process.
- For OneDrive, open the app and sign in with the same credentials to sync files.
- Additional Tips:
- If your daughter encounters issues signing in, ensure she is using the correct Microsoft account (the one that received the sharing invitation).
- If she has reached the device limit for installations, you may need to deactivate Office on an old device from your Microsoft account dashboard before installing on the new PC.
Security Note: For your family’s security, never send passwords via email or text. Always use Microsoft’s secure sign-in and password reset processes
