Word "다른 작업하면서 페이지 다시 매기기" 설정 저장 안 되는 버그 (background repagination setting not saving)

Microsoft Word에서 설정 저장 버그가 있습니다.

'다른 작업하면서 페이지 다시 매기기' (enable background repagination)

문제:

• 보기 모드를 "초안"으로 설정
• 파일 > 옵션 > 고급 > 일반 > "다른 작업하면서 페이지 다시 매기기" (enable background repagination) 옵션 체크 해제 후, 확인을 눌러도 설정이 저장되지 않음. 옵션 창을 다시 열면 체크 상태로 복원됨.
• 몇 달간 문제없이 작동했으나, 2025년 7월 말부터 문제 발생.

환경:

• Word 버전: [예: Microsoft 365, Version 2507, Build 16626.xxxxx]
• 운영 체제: [예: Windows 11 Home, Version 24H2]

시도한 해결 방법:

• Normal.dotm 파일 삭제
• 레지스트리 키(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office<버전>\Word) 삭제
• COM 추가 기능 비활성화
• Office 빠른 복구 및 온라인 복구
• 권한 확인
• Office 재설치
• 안전 모드 실행(옵션 메뉴 비활성화로 테스트 불가)

Hello 대성, since the setting won't persist the normal way, there are alternatives but that involves using VBA Macros. If you're not convenient with these workarounds, I would suggest that you send a feedback.

This behavior is by design though flawed. Even recent versions of Word (including Word 365 as of 2025) still exhibit this limitation.

To report a feedback, open the Feedback Hub app:

From the Start menu, search for “Feedback Hub”

Or press Windows key + F on your keyboard.

Sign in with your Microsoft account (or Azure AD account) to unlock full features like search, upvotes, and status tracking.

Once opened:

Use the search bar to look for existing feedback similar to yours.

Upvote relevant feedback if found

Otherwise, click “Give new feedback” to submit a new report or suggestion.

You can choose whether it's a Problem or Suggestion, provide detailed description, and attach screenshots or record your steps to illustrate the issue.

After submitting, you can click Share to copy a link to your feedback (often an aka.ms link), this is useful if you want others to upvote it too.

This issue of "Enable background repagination" not sticking has been reported before. There's no documented fix in recent months or specific reference to an update in July 2025, but folks have noted similar behavior resurfacing after updates.

But here's a workaround:

Create and use your own template. You can set Draft view + repagination off in a .dotm template, and always open new documents from that. This helps avoid relying on Normal.dotm, which may get reset during updates.
