Hello DOAH KANG,
Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum Support.
I understand you are having trouble locating your unsynchronized files after disconnecting OneDrive.
Please note that when OneDrive is unsynced or uninstalled, any files not yet uploaded to the cloud remain stored locally on your device. If OneDrive is removed or unlinked without backing up those files, they may be lost unless saved elsewhere.
Below are steps you can follow to attempt recovery of those unsynced files.
- Check Your Desktop Recycle Bin
- Open your Windows Recycle Bin.
- Look for the missing OneDrive files.
- Right-click and choose Restore.
- Use File History (Windows Backup): If File History was enabled:
- Go to Control Panel > System and Security > File History.
- Click Restore your files from File History.
- Browse and restore the missing files to their original location.
- Restore Previous Versions: If System Protection was turned on:
- Right-click the folder where files were stored.
- Select Restore previous versions.
- Choose a version before the unsync and click Restore.
Its important to note that OneDrive selectively syncs folders based on user settings, with system folders like Desktop, Documents, and Pictures typically synced by default, while folders not selected or outside OneDrive’s scope such as external drives remain unsynced.
Best wishes,
