Hi W! Thanks for the details.
However, automatic pagination where Word deciding where pages break cannot be turned off, but you can control where breaks happen by adjusting paragraph styles and page break settings. Manual page breaks and page numbers can be deleted without affecting automatic pagination.
Adjust your 4-step style’s Line and Page Break settings to prevent unwanted page breaks:
In the Modify Style dialog, click Format → Paragraph (bottom-left corner).
Go to the Line and Page Breaks tab.
Make sure these options are set correctly:
Keep with next - Check for steps that should stay together
Keep lines together - Check for paragraphs that shouldn’t split
Page break before - Uncheck unless you want a page break before this step
Widow/Orphan control - check but optional, keeps single lines from splitting
Click OK to save the paragraph settings.
Click OK again to save the style.
See if this helps. Just let me know if you need more assistance.
Best regards,
Kimberly
