Hello K-Seven Group,
DirectAccess and Always On VPN should not be run simultaneously because both technologies attempt to manage the Name Resolution Policy Table (NRPT) at the registry level, specifically within HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\DNSClient\DnsPolicyConfig. This conflict causes routing instability and DNS resolution failures. To migrate safely, use Active Directory security group-based Group Policy Objects to perform a phased cutover, where the Always On VPN profile is applied to pilot machines while their legacy DirectAccess configuration is removed, ensuring a stable, deterministic routing environment.
