ADFS vs. AD FS

Those of you who have been lucky enough to install ADFS in Longhorn Server have probably noticed what may appear to be a major discrepancy in the name spacing for the acronym ADFS. For instance, the Add Roles Wizard, which replaces Add/Remove Programs in R2, prominently displays AD FS on the left hand side of the wizard when you click on the server role titled "Active Directory Federation Services".

Just so you know, this new naming scheme is indeed intentional. In fact, for Longhorn server all Active Directory technologies have been branded with AD<space><name of technology>. For example, Active Directory is now referred to as AD DS, which stands for Active Directory Domain Services. ADAM is now referred to as AD LDS (Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services).

Wouldn't it make more sense to optimize for search, and call them ADDS and ADLDS and ADFS? That way, people searching for the technology actually have a reasonable shot at finding articles they're looking at, because the acronyms aren't all broken up.

Sorry for the late reply, tristank. I should be able to add metadata keywords to topics that may help capture your concern. I will look into this. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
