Microsoft Teams can support hybrid work scenarios and enable users to work in flexible spaces. The Microsoft Teams Shared Devices add-on license allows offices to designate devices as shared devices, including common area phones, Teams displays for hot-desks, Teams panels for meeting spaces, and Android phones through the Teams mobile app. With this license, common area phones have the ability to join audio conferences via a dial-in number provided by the meeting organizer.

The Microsoft Teams Shared Devices license includes the following service plans:

  • Microsoft Teams
  • Microsoft Teams Phone (Previously known as Phone System)
  • Microsoft Intune (Microsoft Intune Plan 1 and Plan 2)
  • Microsoft Entra ID P1
  • Exchange Online Plan (Cloud-based voicemail capabilities only.)

Teams Shared Devices license availability

The Teams Shared Devices license is available to purchase worldwide to commercial, public sector, GCC, GCC High, and DoD tenants.

To purchase the Teams Shared Devices license, you can choose your preferred purchasing channel: EA, EAS, EES, CSP, Web Direct, NCE - Customer led, and NCE - Partner led.

Acquiring Teams Shared Devices licenses

The Teams Shared Devices license can be purchased in the Microsoft admin center.

  1. In the Microsoft 365 admin center, go to Billing > Purchase services.

  2. Find the Purchase from Microsoft section, and select View products.

  3. Select the Collaboration and communication filter.

  4. In the product list, find Microsoft Teams Shared Devices, and select Details.

  5. Enter the number of licenses you need and the billing frequency.

  6. Select Buy.
