2025-10-12T10:52:41.6833333+00:00 How to Fully Remove Old Bluetooth Drivers (MediaTek MT7921)
- Uninstall via Device Manager
Open Device Manager
Expand Bluetooth
Right-click MediaTek MT7921 → Uninstall device
Check “Delete the driver software for this device” if available
Reboot
- Purge Residual Drivers from Driver Store
Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:
cmd
pnputil /enum-driversLook for entries like:
Code
Published Name: oemXX.inf Driver Package Provider: MediaTekThen remove them:
cmd
pnputil /delete-driver oemXX.inf /uninstall /forceThis ensures Windows won’t reinstall the old driver automatically.Testing Replacement Cards
If you have access to Intel AX200, AX201, or AX210 cards:
Power down laptop
Swap the M.2 Key E card
Boot into Windows → Install Intel Bluetooth and Wi-Fi drivers
Pair JBL Live Pro+ and test audio stability
No antenna swap needed for these models.
Upgrading to Wi-Fi 7 (Intel BE200 or BE202)
Compatibility Check
Form factor: Still M.2 Key E — fits your laptop
Antenna: Existing dual antennas are compatible
CNVi: BE200 is non-CNVi, so it works in most systems
You do not need to swap antennas unless your current ones are damaged or single-band.
Caveats
Wi-Fi 7 benefits (e.g., 6GHz, MLO) require a compatible router
- Bluetooth 5.4 support is still maturing — some devices may not fully benefit yet

2025-10-11T15:30:34.0566667+00:00 Bram. You’ve done a great job isolating the issue, and your instincts are spot on: the MediaTek MT7921 continues to be a weak link for Bluetooth audio stability especially with true wireless earbuds like the JBL Live Pro+.
Why JBL GO Works but Live Pro+ Doesn’t
JBL GO (1st gen) uses a simpler Bluetooth profile (likely mono SBC or basic A2DP) and doesn’t rely on advanced codecs or dual-channel sync.
JBL Live Pro+ uses dual-channel A2DP, LE Audio, and sometimes multipoint pairing, which are more demanding and expose flaws in flaky Bluetooth stacks—like the MT7921’s.
Should You Replace the MT7921? Yes.
You’ve already proven that:
The 2024 driver still fails
Power saving is off
Resetting the earbuds doesn’t help
The issue is device-specific, not OS-wide
So yes, replacing the MT7921 is the most reliable fix.
Do You Need New Antennas?
Usually not. Here’s the breakdown:
Scenario Need New Antennas? Notes Replacing MT7921 with Intel AX201 ❌ No Uses same M.2 Key E slot and antenna connectors Replacing with AX210 ❌ No Also compatible with existing dual antennas Replacing with AX411 or newer CNVi-only cards ⚠️ Maybe Requires motherboard CNVi support and sometimes different antenna layout TL;DR: Stick with AX201 or AX210 and you’re safe—no antenna swap needed.
Recommended Cards
Model Bluetooth Wi-Fi Notes Intel AX201 5.1 Wi-Fi 6 Stable, widely supported Intel AX210 5.3 Wi-Fi 6E Future-proof, supports 6GHz if your router does Intel AX200 5.1 Wi-Fi 6 Older but still solid All three are M.2 Key E and should drop into your Acer Aspire A7 15-51G without issue.
After Installation
- Install Intel Drivers: Bluetooth Wi-Fi
- Reboot and Pair Fresh: Reset your JBL Live Pro+ air again and test both channels

2025-10-11T10:17:32.9866667+00:00 Hi Bram,
My name is Jason and I am an independent advisor and windows user like yourself.
Your JBL Live Pro+ earphones are disconnecting due to known issues with the MediaTek MT7921 Bluetooth chip in Acer laptops. The driver may be outdated, unstable, or incompatible with Windows 11’s audio stack. Replacing the driver or the chip itself is often necessary.
What’s Causing the Problem
The MediaTek MT7921 chip has a history of unstable Bluetooth connections, especially with audio devices like JBL earphones.
After pairing, the device may lose its A2DP profile, meaning Windows no longer treats it as an audio output.
The issue worsens with Windows 11 updates, which sometimes break compatibility with older or OEM-specific drivers.
Fixes You Can Try
- Roll Back or Reinstall the Bluetooth Driver
Open Device Manager
Expand Bluetooth → Right-click MediaTek MT7921
Choose Properties → Driver → Roll Back Driver (if available)
If rollback isn’t available:
Choose Uninstall Device
Restart your laptop → Windows will reinstall the default driver- Install Latest OEM Driver from Acer
Visit Acer Support
Search for Aspire A7 15-51G
Download the latest Bluetooth driver (even if it’s listed under Windows 10)
Install manually and reboot
Do not rely on Windows Update or generic MediaTek drivers—they often lack proper A2DP support.
- Reset Your JBL Earphones
Press and hold Volume Down + Power for 10 seconds until the LED flashes
Re-pair with your laptop
This clears cached pairing profiles that may be corrupted.
- Disable Power Saving for Bluetooth
In Device Manager → MediaTek Bluetooth → Properties → Power Management
Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”
This prevents Windows from suspending the Bluetooth connection.
Long-Term Fix: Replace the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi Card
If the issue persists:
Replace the MT7921 card with an Intel AX201 or AX210 Wi-Fi 6 card
These are compatible with Acer Aspire models and offer stable Bluetooth 5.2
After replacement, install Intel’s drivers:
Bluetooth
Wi-Fi
