I can't get my Surface Duo 2 in the recovery mode to recover my Duo 2 with the recovery-image using the ADB-sideload. It doesn't working what kind of keys I press for long as it takes. If I'm correct I put a screenshot of the Duo in the attachment. After selecting the recovery mode with the power button it starts up in the start boot selection.

I hope to here from anyone who can help me because I like to have it back.

I've a case to hold and for charging the Surface slim pen 2. Device info, bootloader version - 2023.501.52

    Hi Jensher,

Sorry for the late reaction but I'm very busy at the moment with all kind of problems in my family.

Use the USB-C cable that came with your Surface Duo 2, I don't know which cable that was or where it is now. Can I use another cable and what are the specs of it?

Also; USB-Debugging on the device is on (by Developer Options), I really don't know that. The device must also set in 'fastboot mode', that I also don't know.

I do know that the bootloader of my Surface Duo 2 is unlocked.

Hope to see your reactions because I really liked my Surface Duo 2! I bought a cover so I can load my Surface Slim pen 2. I've 2 Surface Slim pen 2 because I bought a new one after the one I had falt and I couldn't find it again. After a couple of months I found the pen, it was stuck under my door of my car!

So now had 2 Surface Slim pen 2. Can they by repaired?

    Hi Martin,

Thank you for posting, I am here to help you today.

You might need to recover your Surface Duo 2 if it won’t start after a few tries. To do this, you’ll need to download a recovery image on your PC, and then install it on your Surface Duo.

    Before you start:

Surface Duo 2. Make sure it’s charged to at least 40% before you begin to install the recovery image.

USB-C cable. Use the USB-C cable that came with your Surface Duo 2. If your computer doesn’t have a USB-C port, you’ll need a USB-C to USB-A adapter to plug into your computer.

    Windows 10/11 PC. You’ll need a computer that’s running Windows 10 or Windows 11.

To put your Surface DUO into recovery mode follow this steps:

Unplug the USB cable from your Surface Duo if it’s connected to your Windows 10/11 PC.

On your Surface Duo, press and hold the Power button, then tap Power Off.

Note: If you’re prompted to reboot to safe mode, select Cancel, and repeat this step.

After your Surface Duo is powered off, press and hold the Volume down button, then press and release the Power button. Continue to hold down the Volume down button.

After a menu appears, release the Volume down button.

Press and release the Volume down button to change the menu. The menu you want to appear is Recovery mode.

Press and release the Power button to select Recovery mode.

On the screen that shows a small robot lying down, press and hold the Power button, then press and release the Volume up button. Release the Power button.

On the Android Recovery screen, press and release the Volume up or Volume down button to change the menu.

Select Apply update from ADB, then press and release the Power button.

Plug the USB cable into both your Surface Duo and your Windows 10/11 PC.
