    Business accounts are managed by the organization, so they cannot be converted into a personal Microsoft account.

    If you are retiring, the best approach is to create a personal Microsoft account:

    Before your work account is disabled, download any personal files from OneDrive or Outlook and move them to your new personal account.

    After that, you can use your personal account with services like Outlook.com, OneDrive, or Microsoft 365 Personal.
