Unable to access plans I created in Microsoft Planner for my organization

Environment:

  • Microsoft 365 Business (organizational tenant)
  • Microsoft Planner (web and desktop)
  • Plans were created and managed by me as a member/owner

What I've already checked:

  • The plans do appear in "My plans" section of Planner
  • I can find them normally by searching in Teams or SharePoint
  • No changes were made to my account permissions that I'm aware of
  • Other colleagues in the organization can't acess them aswell

Questions:

  1. Is there a known issue where Planner plans become inaccessible without being deleted?
  2. Could a change in Microsoft 365 group membership or license affect visibility of existing plans?
  3. Is there a way to recover or regain access to those plans via the Microsoft 365 admin center or Microsoft Graph API?

I created several plans in Microsoft Planner within my organization's Microsoft 365 tenant. The plans were created successfully and I was able to work with them normally, but now, after sometime, I can no longer access them — they do appear in My Plans and in the group/team they were associated with.

Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.

As your issue description is primarily written in English, I will provide my response in English for your convenience. Please feel free to let me know if you would prefer the information in another language

    Hi Pedro,

Since this issue occurs on both web and desktop, in most cases, the plan can be deleted indirectly when the associated Microsoft 365 Group is deleted.

If the group was deleted within the last 30 days, it may still be recoverable. You should reach out to your IT admin and have them verify the following steps:

Step 1: Identify the Microsoft 365 group linked to the plan

The name of the plan is usually the same or similar to the name of the group. Please check with your organization’s Microsoft 365 administrator to confirm which group was deleted.

Step 2: Restore the group via Microsoft 365 Admin Center

    • Go to https://admin.microsoft.com
    • In the left-hand menu, select Groups > Deleted groups
    • Locate the group associated with your Planner
    • Select it and click Restore group

For detailed guidance, refer to Microsoft’s official documentation:

Restore a deleted Microsoft 365 group - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

Restoring the group may take up to 1 hour. Once complete, the plan should automatically reappear in Microsoft Planner.

Step 3: Clear cache and reopen planner

    • Log out of Planner
    • Clear your browser cache (press Ctrl + F5)
    • Log back in and check if the plan has reappeared

If the group was deleted more than 30 days ago, unfortunately, it cannot be recovered through standard means. In that case, I recommend contacting your IT department to check if any backups or retention policies may apply.

I hope this provides enough clarity and helps you stay inform with your current situation.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.
