Hello,

I am trying to activate Azure for Students ([Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed]), but although my university email verification is completed successfully, the enrollment still ends with the message:

“You are not eligible for an Azure free account.”

I have already completed all recommended troubleshooting steps:

  • I am currently enrolled in a Cloud Computing undergraduate program at [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed] in Brazil.
  • I am over 18 years old.
  • I have never knowingly activated Azure for Students using another Microsoft account or email alias.
  • I previously had an Azure subscription provided by my employer through a Visual Studio/MPN benefit, but this was a corporate benefit and not an Azure for Students subscription.
  • I start the enrollment using my personal Microsoft account.
  • My university email receives the verification message successfully.
  • The academic verification is completed successfully.
  • I have signed out of all Microsoft accounts and retried the Azure for Students enrollment in a private/incognito browser session.
  • I accessed the Azure for Students enrollment page directly and repeated the entire process.
  • I have access to my personal Azure Default Directory.

Even after completing all of these steps, the subscription is not created and I still receive the eligibility error.

My latest failed attempt shows:

Session ID: [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed] Timestamp UTC: 9/30/2026 12:45:32 PM

Since the university email verification is successful, could you please review my account eligibility status on the backend and verify why the Azure for Students subscription is not being provisioned?

If necessary, please escalate this case to the Azure for Students / Account Review team.

I can provide proof of enrollment, screenshots, or any additional information required.

Academic verification succeeds, but Azure for Students enrollment still returns “You are not eligible for an Azure free account”. Requesting backend eligibility review.

Should they open a case with Azure for Education Support regarding my academic identity, or can they request Microsoft to review the Azure for Students entitlement/provisioning for my personal Microsoft account?

If possible, could you also escalate this case internally or provide an alternative support channel, since I am unable to create the support request myself?

Thank you. I understand the recommendation to contact my university IT administrator. However, my university email verification already completes successfully, so the academic account itself appears to be recognized.

The failure occurs after academic verification, when Microsoft determines the eligibility/provisioning of the Azure for Students offer for my personal Microsoft account.

I also confirmed that I am Owner of my personal Azure subscription and Default Directory, but the Azure Portal still does not allow me to submit the appropriate support request, and the Support API rejects programmatic ticket creation because my support plan is Free.

Could you please clarify specifically what action my university administrator would need to perform? Should they open a case with Azure for Education Support regarding my academic identity, or can they request Microsoft to review the Azure for Students entitlement for my personal Microsoft account?

I noticed that you posted your question in English, so I’ll continue communicating in English for clarity. However, if you would prefer to switch to Portuguese, please feel free to let me know, and I’ll be happy to accommodate.

    Hello Rafael Buranelo Biasotto,

Since your academic verification was completed successfully but the Azure for Students subscription was not created, you will need to contact Azure Support so that the support team can review your account eligibility and subscription provisioning status.

Please sign in to the Azure portal and go to Help + support > Create a support request. In the support request, please include the information you have already provided, such as the complete error message, the Session ID, the UTC timestamp, confirmation that your academic verification was successful, and details about the previous Azure subscription provided by your employer. You may also attach screenshots showing the successful academic verification and the eligibility error.

Please share personal, academic, and account information only through the private support request, not in this public forum.

If you do not see the option to create a support request, or if the portal states that you do not have permission, please contact your university’s IT administrator and ask the administrator to open an Azure support request on your behalf.
If you’re not sure who your IT administrator is, you can refer to the guidance below: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

    Reference list:

I hope Azure Support can help review the account and clarify why the subscription is not being created.

    Kind regards,
