While checking the files you sent us, we noticed multiple LiveKernelEvent 141 errors, which is a critical error that occurs in the Windows OS. This may indicate a possible hardware failure and that there might be critical issues with your hardware, such as GPU, memory or hard disk. Some common causes for this include:  

Corrupted graphics driver.

Overheating of graphics card.

Faulty graphics card hardware. 

We strongly recommend following the troubleshooting steps provided below one by one and checking if the game works fine after each step.  

1. Reinstall your graphics driver using DDU and install the latest driver version: 

Sometimes, corrupted or outdated graphics drivers can cause issues with your gaming performance. To do a clean video driver install, many enthusiasts use a third-party program called Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU), which completely removes components that were part of the original driver installation package. 

Run DDU and uninstall old video driver.

Install the latest OEM video card driver and reboot your PC.

Run the latest DirectX installer package and reboot your PC. 

2. Reinstall the game and verify file integrity: 

Corrupted game files can cause crashes and other gameplay issues. In order to fix any potential issues that are caused by corrupted game files, please reinstall the game. If reinstalling the game did not help, please try verifying and repairing the game files. Please check this Steam article for additional instructions: Verify Integrity of Game Files. 

3. Run Steam and the game with elevated rights (i.e. as administrator): 

Running as administrator can sometimes resolve any permission-related issues with the application you are trying to launch. 

This can be done by right-clicking on the .exe file and selecting “Run as administrator.” If that doesn’t work, try running the game’s .exe file in administrator mode as well. 

4. Disable Steam Overlay: 

Overlays can interfere with game performance. Disabling Steam Overlay, and other overlays can improve performance or fix launch issues, in some cases. 

Additionally, you can turn on/off the Steam Overlay per game. 

Find the game in your Library -> Properties...

Under the General tab, you'll find a checkbox for Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game 

5. Close unnecessary applications: 

Running other applications in the background can consume system resources. Disabling these applications before launching the game can improve performance. 

6. Add the game as an exception in your security software: 

Some launching issues may be attributed to certain Anti-Virus software preventing the game executable from launching due to a false-positive error. We recommend users add all of the following files and folders to the Anti-Virus and Firewall exclusion list to prevent this issue. If these files and folders were already added previously, try removing them from the exclusion list and re-adding them.

Open Bitdefender

Go to the Protection tab

Click “View Feature”

Click the gear icon inside the “Advanced Thread Defense” box

Select “Add applications to the whitelist”

Browse and navigate to the .exe file

Once the .exe file is added, close Bitdefender and relaunch the game 

7. If applicable, revert overclocking to default values: 

Overclocking can sometimes lead to instability and compatibility issues. If you are overclocking your hardware, reverting to default clock values can help prevent some of the aforementioned issues. 

8. Repair the Steam Client: 

Corrupted Steam files can lead to various problems, including game crashes and performance issues. Repairing the client may help prevent that. In order to do this, please follow the steps below: 

Start up the Run application.

In the dialogue box, type the address of your Steam directory, followed by bin, then the exe and finally followed by a space and a “/repair”.

The final command will look something like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\SteamService.exe /repair". 

9. Install or update Microsoft Visual Studio C++ and Microsoft .NET Framework: 

A lot of games require specific runtime libraries to run properly. Making sure that the libraries specified above are installed and/or updated can help with launch issues.

10. Check your graphics driver settings & computer power settings: 

To reiterate, some high end integrated graphics chips and modern laptop class discrete GPUs may work, but have not been tested, nor are they officially supported by Capcom. Laptops with dual GPUs, such as an Intel Integrated Graphics Processor + Nvidia Dedicated Graphics Card, may need additional configuration in the event the integrated processor is overriding the dedicated graphics drivers. 

If using a dual Nvidia / Intel GPU, follow these steps: 

Install the latest Intel integrated drivers[downloadcenter.intel.com]

Reboot your PC

Open Nvidia Control Panel

Click 'Manage 3D Settings'

Go to 'Program Settings' and then select the game (if it is not in the list you can add it manually by clicking 'Add')

Scroll down to 'Power Management Mode'

Set it to 'Prefer Maximum Performance' / ‘High Performance Processor’ instead of 'Adaptive'

Close Nvidia Control Panel and launch the game 

Additionally, double-check your desktop / laptop’s power settings by performing the following: 

If using a laptop, ensure the charger is connected

Open Control Panel

Select Power Options

Select “Change Plan Settings”

Select “Change advanced power settings”

From within the dropdown menu, select “High performance” and click ‘Apply’ then ‘OK’

Launch the game

If you are using a laptop, please make sure your Power mode is set to "Best performance". 

11. Perform an SFC scan: 

System files can get corrupted and affect game performance and/or stability. In cases like this, System File Checker can help identify and repair corrupted system files. For more information, please check this Microsoft article: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files. 

12. Perform Clean Boot: 

In some cases, third party applications can affect the game's performance and/or stability. Performing a clean boot can help you determine if that's the case. For more information, please check this Microsoft article: How to perform a clean boot in Windows. 

13. Please follow the steps below to lower your settings and improve stability. 

Confirm the game is closed

Right-click "Resident Evil 5" in the Steam Library and open "Properties"

Select "Browse Local Files..." in the Local Files tab

Rename config.ini to config_backup.ini

After copying config_default.ini, rename the copied file to config.ini

Click "Play" from the Steam client to start the game 

14. Check for hardware issues and ensure your hardware is not overheating: 

Faulty hardware can cause various problems. We suggest making sure that it is not overheating and using Microsoft's hardware troubleshooter to check for any underlying issues. In order to use this troubleshoot, please open Windows Powershell (admin) or Command Prompt (admin) and type msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic. 

You can also Check Corrupt Files and Recover Window image. 

In the Search Area, type CMD and hit Enter.

In windows opens, click on the Run as Administrator option.

In windows opens type command: sfc /scannow .

Wait to finish.

Type one by one the next command and press Enter at end of each:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

sfc /scannow (please try this one more time) 

After the process is finished, press Ctrl+Alt+Del and restart the PC to verify if the issue is solved. 

Additionally, to assist us in diagnosing the problem more accurately, please let us know if you are using any mods, third-party applications, or cheats that actively modify the game files.

Здравствуйте.

Судя по предоставленной Вами информации - ошибка кроется в самой игре. А именно - в запускаемом модуле игры под DirectX9 API.

Загрузите автономный пакет DirectX: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/detail... и запустите его на распаковку (в процессе укажите отдельную папку, куда распаковать). По окончании из папки с распакованным дистрибутивом запустите DXSETUP.EXE от имени Администратора. Дождитесь окончания установки и перезагрузите ПК. Проверьте наличие проблемы. Если проблема остается, то для решения следует обратиться в техаоддержку разработчиков игры.
