The sound started playing with cracks, looks like something's wrong with the drivers. DAWs are also not functioning well - cracks, a lot of "thinking", the operation is not smooth as it was before.

    Welcome Andrei M,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum. I am sorry to hear about your issue with the sound crackling and DAW performance issues on your HP Pavilion Aero 13.

You can try some steps below to troubleshoot the issue:

Option 1: Disable Realtek Audio Driver and switch to generic driver

    • Open Device Manager > Expand Sound, video and game controllers > right – click on Realtek High Definition Audio > Disable device
    • After that, select Action > choose Add legacy hardware > click Next, select Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced), then click Next
    • Select Sound, video and game controllers, then click Next
    • Choose High Definition Audio Device (not Realtek), click Next, and complete the installation.
    • Restart your computer

Option 2: Set audio playback device to highest quality sample rate

    • Go to Settings > System > Sound > at the Speakers, click the arrow to open Properties > select the highest quality sample rate (e.g., 24-bit, 48000 Hz or higher)
    • Click OK and close the windows

Option 3: Uninstall and reinstall audio driver

    • In Device Manager, right-click Realtek High Definition Audio again and select Uninstall device.
    • Check the box to delete the driver software if available
    • Download the latest audio drivers from the official HP support website for your Pavilion Aero 13 model and install them
    • Restart your laptop

For DAW performance issue, make sure to update your audio drivers to the latest version provided by HP or AMD (depending on your audio chipset), as outdated drivers can lead to sound issues and increased latency in DAW.

I really hope that the information I gave above was helpful to you. Please feel free to reply below and let me know if you have further concern on this matter.
